Transboundary waters

The 40th IAHR World Congress in Vienna, Austria, from August 21st to 25th, 2023. 

The main theme of the 40th IAHR World Congress will be “Rivers – Connecting Mountains and Coasts” focusing attention on the importance of considering the integral water cycle to address present and future challenges.

The Romanian Limnogeographical Association (RLA) in collaboration with the Polish Limnological Society (PLS), German Limnological Society (GLS), Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL) and Danube Delta National Institute Tulcea (DDNI) would like to invite you to take part in the 6th International Hybrid Conference set to take place between 13-17 September 2023 in the “Delta” Hotel in Tulcea, Romania.

The 11th World Water Forum will be hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on 22-28 March 2027 under the theme "Action for a Better Future."

The World Water Council organizes the multi-stakeholder event, which convenes every three years. The World Water Forum provides a unique platform for the water community and key decision makers to collaborate and make long-term progress on global water challenges, including water security and accessibility.

The Conference will aim to inspire action-oriented commitments by stakeholders at all levels. These commitments will comprise the “Water Action Agenda” – a platform for voluntary commitments and new and innovative approaches.

On Monday, 27 February 2023 at 14:00-15:30 CET / 08:00-09:30 EST / 20:00-21:30 ICT, governments, organisations and other stakeholders are invited to a webinar, organised by the Transboundary Water Cooperation Coalition: Advancing Transboundary Water Cooperation through commitments for the UN 2023 Water Conference

The 50th Congress of the International Association of Hydrogeologists will be hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa from 17 to 22 September 2023. 

The Congress theme for IAH 50 is Groundwater: A Matter of Scale. This theme combines scientific advances through local to global scale experiments and case studies, with those extending over various temporal scales. 

The African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) is hosting a webinar that will discuss the significance and contribution of groundwater to water security including domestic supply for drinking and sanitation, agricultural and industrial productions as well as ecosystem services in Africa.

The webinar will feature expert presentations and panel discussions among groundwater experts from the private sector, CSOs, academia and research institutions both within and outside Africa.

The Multi-Stakeholder Thematic Webinars will be held virtually as an additional opportunity for stakeholders to prepare for the UN 2023 Water Conference, including to encourage their contributions to the Water Action Agenda.  

The theme of the 49th IAH Congress is “Groundwater Sustainability and Poverty Reduction”. Poverty reduction is a top priority for most countries in the world. Unfortunately, most of the poor countries and regions have been faced with serious problems of water scarcity and contamination. It is the mission and ultimate responsibility of the international community of hydrogeologists to help the people get access to sustainable safe supply of fresh groundwater.

The 1st IAHR and 4th CAE International Conference on Global Water Security and Sustainable Development will be held by the Yangtze Institute for Conservation and Development, Hohai University and Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute in Nanjing (China) from October 30th to November 3rd, 2023.
