The African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) is hosting a webinar that will discuss the significance and contribution of groundwater to water security including domestic supply for drinking and sanitation, agricultural and industrial productions as well as ecosystem services in Africa.
The webinar will feature expert presentations and panel discussions among groundwater experts from the private sector, CSOs, academia and research institutions both within and outside Africa.
It aims to raise the voices and enlighten relevant stakeholders about the significance of groundwater and its values socially, culturally, economically, and environmentally, making a case for raising the profile of groundwater at the highest level of governance and political agenda in Africa in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The webinar will also take a critical look at the need to ensure groundwater sustainable development to benefits livelihoods in Africa, and the need for the relevant decision makers to take cognizance of the vital roles of groundwater in Integrated Water Resource Management and Transboundary Aquifer Management.
