Biography

Lukas Graf works as a researcher in the field of agriculture, food security and space-borne remote sensing. His work is concerned about the evaluation of optical remote sensing data using physical and statistical methods. The ultimate goal of his work is to enable a more sustainable usage of limited natural resources. As a PhD student at ETH Zurich, he is working on improving the understanding of plant-environment interactions at the landscape scale. The aim is also to increase the resilience of agriculture to the effects of climate change.

In addition to his research activities, Lukas Graf develops commercial as well as open-source software that can be used for the analysis of optical remote sensing data in agriculture and hydrological modelling. An example is the tool “OBIA4RTM” which is available as free software on Github.
