Ratio Vegetation Index (RVI)
Ratio Vegetation Index (RVI), also called The Simple Ratio (SR), is a common vegetation index for estimating the amount of vegetation. It is the ratio of light scattered in the NIR and absorbed in red bands, which reduces the effects of atmosphere and topography.
RVI = ρNIR / ρred
where ρRED and ρNIR represent spectral reflectances in the red and NIR regions." (ESRI, n.d.)
