Aquaporins

Aquaporins are a water treatment technology. They are membranes embedded with the same natural proteins that transport water through the membranes of living cells. They can transport individual molecules through cell membranes, allowing them to reject contaminants. The membranes can operate in forward osmosis, extracting fresh water and leaving only waste on the other side (Aquaporin 2020).
