Biography

Sackdavong Mangkhaseum is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Space Systems Engineering at Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) in Japan. Mangkhaseum is working as a telecommunication lecturer in Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Faculty of Engineering, at the National University of Laos. During his doctoral degree, he was a member of the communication subsystem and antenna deployment for the 3U CubeSat project (CURIST Satellite). In addition, he is especially interested in the development and utilization of Earth observation, image processing, google Earth engines, deep learning, and machine learning approaches. His topics of interest are flood detection and susceptibility mapping, land use and land cover change, and wildfire detection. In addition, he is a National Point of Contact (NPoC) of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) from Laos. He has promoted space technology and education at schools and universities in Lao PDR.
