The 2026 GEO Symposium and GEO-21 Plenary will take place from 26–28 May 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland, bringing together the global Earth observation community to advance collaboration, innovation, and strategic decision-making under the theme “Investing in Earth Intelligence for a Resilient Future.”
26–27 May 2026 — GEO Symposium
The two-day GEO Symposium will open with a high-level opening ceremony, followed by town hall discussions and multi-track community events designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange across the Earth observation community.
Key programme highlights include:
- Town Hall: Exploring New Models for Implementing the Post-2025 GEO Work Programme
This session will examine innovative approaches for implementing GEO activities, including co-design with users, public-private partnerships, sustainable governance models, and performance metrics to support investment and measurable impact. - Town Hall: Harnessing Innovative Technologies for Earth Intelligence Solutions
Discussions will focus on the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital twins, drones, and high-resolution satellite imagery in delivering actionable Earth intelligence solutions for global challenges.
Throughout both days, the programme will feature:
- Parallel community events across multiple thematic tracks
- Showcase stations highlighting initiatives and innovations

28 May 2026 — GEO-21 Plenary
The GEO-21 Plenary will convene GEO Members and Participating Organizations for high-level discussions and decision-making.
Key plenary sessions include:
- Opening Ceremony and Leadership Remarks
High-level representatives from the European Union, China, South Africa, the United States, and the GEO Secretariat will provide strategic guidance and priorities. - Transformational Impact in Action: Programme Results Driving Earth Intelligence Investment
This session will showcase real-world GEO flagship initiatives demonstrating how Earth intelligence solutions improve decision-making and resilience. - From Participation to Partnership: Advancing Member Engagement Across Regions
Discussions will explore new collaboration models, regional partnerships, and investment opportunities to strengthen global impact. - GEO Plenary Business Session
